What is a Scientific Game Jam?

A “game jam” is a short creative marathon during which participants create a video game prototype on a specific theme.

The Scientific Game Jam is the first science-themed game jam.

Participants have 48 hours to create a video game around a doctoral thesis.

EDITIONS THROUGHOUT FRANCE

The first Scientific Game Jam was initiated in Grenoble in 2014 during the international year of crystallography, thanks to a partnership between Grenoble Alpes University, Grenoble INP, CNRS, CEA and Casemate. Since then, other cities have joined the Scientific Game Jams event: Paris, Montpellier, Bordeaux, Nantes, Lyon, Toulouse...

The Scientific Game Jam aims to be a decentralized event to encourage the popularization of science through video games.

This is why all the resources made available to the organizers and all the games created by the participants are distributed under the Creative Commons CC-BY-NC 3.0 license.

Who can participate?

The Scientific Game Jam is for everyone, for all video game or science enthusiasts (or not).

For teams made up of at least one game designer, one graphic designer, one sound designer, one programmer and one scientist, the challenge is to design and create a video game that vulgarizes the science.

To participate in the next Scientific Game Jam, you just need to find the edition nearest to you.
